Rachel De-Lahay and Milli Bhatia return with a host of new writers in their quest to leave nothing unsaid.
Could you put your white best friend on stage and remind them that they’re part of the problem? Even if you love them? Even if you never want anyone to feel for even a moment how you feel living in this world everyday?
Rachel De-Lahay's provocative act of letter writing engages with racial tensions, microaggressions and emotional labour, asking the privileged to step back and for the rest of the room to take up space. She and director Milli Bhatia have commissioned a host of new writers to pen their own letters that say the unsaid to the people that matter most.
Featuring different letters every night from some of the most exciting voices in the UK, My White Best Friend (and even more letters left unsaid) includes work from:
Emma Dennis-Edwards, Lena Dunham, Inua Ellams, Rabiah Hussain, Mika Johnson, Jasmine Lee-Jones, Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Shireen Mula, Ash Sarkar, Nikesh Shukla, Jack Thorne & Joel Tan
Arthur Darvill, Freddie Fox, Ellie Kendrick, Daisy Lewis, Pearl Mackie, Zackary Momoh, Tom Mothersdale, Will Poulter, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Nabhaan Rizwan, Ahir Shah, Cara Theobold & Susan Wokoma will read these newly created pieces live onstage each night - without having seen them ahead of time.
Inès de Clercq returns to read Rachel De-Lahay's My White Best Friend each night.
After the performances DJs will play til late every night of the week - so stick around and party with us until the early hours.
Each night's line-up will be released on the day of each performance via The Bunker's social media accounts.
